First RV Trip - 1995
image

The window of opportunity was quickly closing for having a trip with Evan (12) and Stefan (just turned 15). How long could we take their fidgeting in the back seat of the car. Denise realized that we needed a larger vehicle, at least a van. We got a Motor Home. Besides a few photos the best documentation of the trip was Evan's diary. Told from the unique perspective of a 12 year old it captures the essence of the experience.

Grand Canyon
My Image

During our visit to the Grand Canyon in 2013 we checked out Mile One, the beginning of the National Park and where the boat excursions put into the Colorado River.

White Sands
My Image

Denise and I drove back from Phoenix in 2010. In New Mexico we crossed the ominous White Sands Missile Range with its heaps of boulders on our way to cavort in White Sands National Park. It was cold and windy but we had fun.

Walnut Canyon
My Image

On our return from exploring the Grand Canyon, we stopped at Walnut Canyon National Monument located about 10 miles from Flagstaff, Az. It offers a nice hike of about a mile with a change in evaluation of 185 ft. The Canyon was inhabited by the Sinagua from about 1100 to 1250 CE.

Maui

Maui was a real vacation for us, coming in August, 2004, since once retired the concept of vacation loses its meaning. This was to be a trip of relaxation, adventure, and fun and it achieved all three. We were accompanied by Craig, Denise’s brother, Pam, Craig’s friend, and Maui Revealed the indispensable guide book. Just a few of the highlights included Road to Hana, waterfalls galore, sunrise at the top of Haleakala Volcano (none due to cloud), luau, and hiking bamboo forests.

San Juan - 2005
My Image

We accepted an invite from friends to share a condo on the ocean with them for a week in California. The highlight was a visit to the Mission San Juan Capistrano where we did not see the birds!
